4 days 3 nights: From the High Desert to Rain Forest
Day 1 towards the puna of Atacama
We will leave from Salta to the border with the province of Jujuy, by a cornice path with plenty of tropical vegetation. We will pass through the capital city of that province, called San Salvador de Jujuy to continue my route to the famous town of Purmamarca with its 7 -colored hill. There we will stop for lunch and you can walk about 45 'surrounding the town along a very picturesque path called the Colorados. The town itself is very nice and the main square is surrounded by street markets and fixed markets with textile and ceramic products. In the afternoon we will begin the ascent on the route that goes to Chile, reaching 4,170 meters. That marks the beginning of the region of the Puna, and then descend to the Salar "Salinas Grandes" where we can stop walking on the salt flat. Finally, in an hour we will reach the town of Susques where we will stay in a hotel.
Day 2 the green puna jujeña
We will have to leave early in the morning because the day is long and completely on the gravel road, we will also carry a picnic so as not to take us. The first town that we will visit will be Coranzulí with a beautiful central square in front of the colorful colonial church, and always continuing in the north direction, for streams and bordering the "Oros river", we will reach the village of Cusi Cusi where the famous viewpoint is located To observe the Moon Valley. Always continuing on the RN40 we will pass a river and enter the Paicone creek which is itself the road that in parts is the river itself for about 11 km of travel to finally leave the canyon and after about 40 km we will reach a town called Santa Catalina where we will stay at a hotel.
Day 3 from the puna to the jungle balcony
Leaving early from Santa Catalina and after 1 hour of travel we will reach the end of the RN40, which is kilometer 5190 of the famous route, in the border city of La Quiaca, and from there we will have the comfort of the asphalted route to the city Humahuaca where we began to ascend to 4500 meters visiting the famous hill of the 14 colors, or "El Hornocal". After the photos, we will continue for 100 km over a mountain road with deep views on each side until we reach a town in Santa Ana where we will stay in a town hostel at 3500 meters.
Day 4 from heaven to earth
The descent begins; After early breakfast in Santa Ana, we will descend for approximately 4 hours along a magnificent road observing the change of gradual vegetation between the desert and the subtropical jungle, highlighting the black and red earth. Many times we can see condors flying below us. We will pass the villages of Valle Colorado, Valle Grande, and San Francisco to finally cross the Calilegua National Park with its lush vegetation, reaching the asphalt route where the city of Libertador Gral San Martín is located, famous for the sugar mill industry of Ledesma. From there in approximately 3 hours per route with important traffic, we will reach the end of the tour and at the end of the trip: Salta
