Purmamarca

Day 1

We start the trip from Salta to Jujuy province, along the famous Quebrada de Humahuaca visiting all tha small villages on the way: Purmamarca, Tilcara and Humahuaca, ending right on the border with Bolivia in a city call La Quiaca where we will spend the night.

Day 2

After breakfast, we will got to the international bridge between La Quiaca (Argentina) and Villazón (Bolivia) cityes and we meet with a local contact in Bolivia who will guide us into this country. All the roads in this part of Bolivia are by earth, no asfalt.

From the border to Uyuni city we have arround 7 hours driving, crossing small villages like Suipacha (historic place where was our first independence combat in 1810), then Tupiza (the most important) and after that miners town like Atocha. When we get Tupiza, we will go to the small hotel to spend the night.

Day 3

It's a day to visit the famous salt flat Uyuni, 11.000 thousand square kilometers at 3.500 mts. above sea level. It's at only 30 minutes from the village but we need the whole day to visit it. First we go to Isla Pescado o Isla Incahuasi, where we can find a micro habitat of birds and vegetetion in the middle of the salt, then we will visit the area where the workers cut salt blocks to sell in the village. In summer time the salt flat is a little floded by the rains and sometime it's not possible to get Incahuasi island. At the end of the day we return to the hotel in Uyuni village.

Tupiza city

Day 4

We will run the same way to return to Argentina border, over Tupiza city and then after get Villazón , we cross the bridge again to spend the night in La Quiaca.

Atocha village

Day 5

This day is not the same, after leave La Quiaca, we will use the road 40 to get Salinas Grandes salt flat and then after San Antonio de Los Cobres we will get down Salta over the famous way used by the Train To The Clouds, visiting on the way indian ruins named Tastil and finally we will arrive to Salta city arroun 7:00 PM.
