Puna de Atacama it’s a region of The Andes mountains of Argentina North West area where we can see hills up to 6.000 mts. And lot of deserts and salt flats in 90.000 square kilometres of extension.
It’s considered one of the most inhospitable places in the earth.
The programs in this region could be between 2 and 5 days.

Starting in Salta city, we take the same way of the famous Train To The Clouds over El Toro gorge deep into a nice ravine surrounded by huge mountains and beautiful landscape. Slowly we will get higher and higher seeing the railroad of the trail cross over bridges and amazing switch back to get high.
After a few hours, we will stop at Santa Rosa de Tastil, a small village where we can visit a Indian ruins 700 years old and then, we continue in our truck, crossing a pass of 4.000 mts. to get the plateau of Puna region at 3.500 mts. Above sea level.
The only pale to stop for lunch is San Antonio de Los Cobres city (4.000 habitants), and then, after that if somebody want, we can drive to the famous bridge of The Train To The Clouds, named “La Polvorilla” situated in a remote place 200 mts. Long in curve and 70 mts. High from the ground level at 4.200 mts. above sea level- This bridge is still part of Salta symbol during advertisement campaigns.
Returning to San Antonio de Los Cobres, we continue our trip to north direction over the old Route 40 and getting into Jujuy Province we will see one of the highlights of this trip: Salinas Grandes. Believe or not, it’s a huge salt flat of pure salt compacted and concentrated after million years of geologic process where the salt of the soil from all the mountains around drain the water to the lower part of the valley and then, thanks to the sun evaporation and insulation the salt it’s like today we can see it.
