November 17th. to 22nd. of 2008
Day 1 (Nov. 17th)
Salta - Cafayate (wine area)- Quilmes (Tucuman Province)-Santa María (Catamarca Province)- Belén - Fiambalá. Night in hotel.
It's a long day of "transportation" with a few stop on the way but unfortunatelly we don't have enought time to spend in all ther places with touristic interest. The first part of the trip we will cross the Quebrada de las Conchas gorge (picture) , then Cafayate, Santa María(lunch), Belén and Finaly Faimbalá where we will spend two nights in a hotel with thermal springs.
Day 2 (Nov. 18th)
Fiambalá - Full day to the high wetlands working with the scientist: salar de Laguna Verde, - Return to Fiambalá. Night in hotel.
This is the first cientific expedition day where we will go to the wetland of the high deserts of The Andes named: "salar de Laguna Verde" to explore, colect samples, and measuring.... leaded by Maria Eugenia Farias. We will be involve in part of the scientist expedition crew helping the work and enjoing the nature of those unexplored landscapes. Lunch near the lake like pic nic, and we will have excellents oportunities for a great pictures. We will back to Fiambalá village to spend the night.
Day 3 (Nov. 19th)
Fiambalá - Chilecito, we can visit the museum of the cable car to La Mejicana Mine (La Rioja Province)- Villa Unión. Night in hotel.
In this day, the driving is not long, we can start late in the morning to go Villa Unión in La Rioja Province. On the way. we wil visit Chilecito city, where we will lunch in a restaurant in front of the main square and we can visit the museum of the cable car to La Mexicana gold mine. Finaly we will get the hotel "Pircas Negras" in Villa Unión where we will spend the night.
Day 4 (Nov. 20th)
Villa Unión - Full day to the high wetlands working with the scientist: Laguna Brava - Corona del Inca - Return to Villa Unión. Night in Hotel.
It will be the second, and the last scientist expedition journey of this amazing trip where we will get the salt flats and high lakes in the area of Laguna Brava. Will be the same activitie like on November 20. where we will help to the scientist in charge, Maria Eugenia Farias in her work. Picnic as well and at the end of the day we will back to Villa Union to spend another night there.
Day 5 (Nov. 21st)
Villa Unión - Visit National ParkTalampaya - Visit Provincial Park Valle de La Luna -Ischigualasto ( San Juan province) - La Rioja city. Night in Hotel.
From Villa Unión, we will go to visit the increible National Park Talampaya where you can take a tour (2 hours) in the organization vehicles (minibus) over the amazing canyon (not including in the rate), then, after lunch we keep going to San Juan province to visit the famous Moon Valley where we will take a tour in our own truck over the provincial park gided by one local ranger along 2 hours too. After the visit, we will bach to La Rioja city to spend a night in a 5 star hotel: Naindo Park.
Day 6 (Nov. 22nd)
La Rioja - Catamarca - Tucumán - Salta. End
It's the last day of our trip, returning to Salta, or, if you want to finish in Tucumán. This day is full driving over a busy roads....but also nice places.
COST PER PERSON
979 Euros per person (in a double room). Aditional for single room: 110 Euros.
Including: 6 days of transportation in 4x4 truck 5 nights of accomodations in hotel.
Not including: meals and ticket entrances and tours into the Natural Reserves: (Talampaya & Moon Valley)
