SAFARI TO THE CALCHAQUÍES VALLEYS
2 days 1 night in camp "light hiking"
This is a spectacular trip lasting 2 days, combining hiking, off-road driving and archaeological tourism. Hiking to the "enchanted valley"sites, camping in remote places, visiting hungred year old wine cellars, and a variety of countryside landscapes we pass through lush vagetation, deserts and multicoloured mountain scenery, cactus plains in the Cardones National Park, fertile valleys and sand dunes. Driving on paved roads, earth roads, and sometimes off road driving on dry river beds.. We visit villages and small towns where the atraction is from the days of the Spanish empire such as Payogasta, Cachi, Molinos, San Carlos y Cafayate.
The first journey is starting in Salta at 07:00, driving to the west on
route Nº 33 and after 3 h of climbing a mountain road we stop in the Enchanted Valley
where we will walk for 1 hour to watch condors flying (if the weather it´s good), After
our walk, we´ll eat a picnic them continue to the town of Cachi. After Cachi we reach
Molinos where we camp 10 kms. out off town in the wild. ( hotel is optional).The next
morning, after breakfast in the camp and stowing our tents, we continue driving to
Cafayate where we´ll visit a few winerys and eat lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoong
we´ll return to Salta via the national rute nº 68 along which we´ll stop in a lot of
places to take a pictures the landscape is spectacular with colored mountains and strange
rock formations.
Duration: 2 days and one night camping all the meals included

DISCOVERING VALLEYS AND CANYON WALLS
3 days. 1 night in youth hostel 1 night in camp "strong trekking" This is a three days program through the Calchaquies valleys which combines 4x4 " safari" with more time devoted to trekking and closer contact with nature. Day 1
Departure from Salta city at 07:00 am , after 2 hs. driving, we
stop the car just on the begining of the mountain road to take a local bus (Salta-Cahi).
In a bus we will climb the mountain to the top of the road at. 3.348 mts. a.s.l. and we
will start downhill trekking for about 7 hours will give you the opportunity to enjoy an
impressive landscape such as the famous " Cuesta del Obispo" at 1ooo mts we take
a snake-like road that will later lead us to an incredible craggy canyon the ideal habitat
for the local avifauna. On the way we will visit a small cave with rupestrian pictures and
if weather permits we might be gifted with the majestic flight of a condor. No special
physical training is required since the whole trek is downwards. Once in the vehicle, we
will continue our way to a small town of Cachi where we will spend the night at a local
family house where they receive visitors.
Day 2
We continue our trip in the 4X 4 vehicle along route 40 to the south of the
valley.We will go through another charming town called Secantas to reach the natural pond
of Brealito at 2.700 mts, We shall walk 2 to 4 hours on the group´s physical condition
after the previous day´s activity. Then we will go directly to the camping place, put up
the tents, have dinner and then contemplate the deep velvet night sky crossed by silver
trails of falling stairs as you have never seen it before.
Hiking duration: 3 hours
Day 3
The " Safari valles Calchaquies" will conclude at the end of this
day. But first we will drive the towns of San Carlos and Cafayate, visiting vineyards and
returning to Salta city along the paved road which will still offer many places to make a
stop and take great shots of the strange rock formations and multicolored mountains of the
Cafayate valley.
In this day we do not have any hiking or trekking because the way to Salta is long and we do not have more time to do it, we will get Salta city arround 6:30 PM

TREKKING & RAFTING ON THE SAFARI VALLES
4 days 3 nights (2 in hotels 1 in camp)
Day 1

Day 3
After take a
breakfast in the camp, we will drive the towns of San Carlos and Cafayate, visiting vineyards
(if you are interested) and then, we continue to Quilmes in Tucuman province
where we can walk over the indian ruins for 1 hour. The place where are situated
this ruins is amazing and we will get an excellent view of the Valley. After the
hinke, we can stay in the hotel of the ruins or we
returning to Cafayate again to stay there.
Day 4
From
Cafayate or Quilmes, wherever we slept last night, we will go driving through
Quebrada del Rio Las Conchas along the paved road which will still offer many places to make a
stop and take great shots of the strange rock formations and multicolored mountains
. Then we will get the big valley again where is Salta city but before do that,
we will go to Juramento Canyon for rafting (2 hours descent)and after the raft
we will eat a BBQ and will return to Salta city.
Duration: 4 days (two night in hotel and one night in camp )
