In the summer of 2012 we walked the Fairy Pools Circuit in the Cuillins on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Glenbrittle runs roughly south to north along the River Brittle and is overlooked by the Cuillin mountains. The walk towards the foot of the Black Cuillins is fairly easy at the beginning as there’s plenty of natural rock underfoot and there’s a well-maintained gravel section, but later on you’ll find yourself having to hop over several sections that cross the River Brittle, where the ‘bridge’ has been made out of rocks thoughtfully plonked down at key locations. This easy-going trail rewards visitors with stunning views at every section of its 65-mile length and there are plenty of opportunities to deviate onto nearby attractions along the way.
